Cross the central Marques de Pombal square and go down by the XVIII century boulevard called Liberdade Avenue to the popular Restauradores square. Stop here for a walking tour with your guide, on the heart of the city, a place where the Lisbon sidewalks were first made, defined by handcrafted stonework in black and white with decorative patterns. Walk on Rossio square, The Pombaline downtown which has been the shopping area for more than 2000 years. Walk through the sumptuous rua Augusta down to Comercio square, where caravels unloaded the merchandise coming from the east.
Continue by car. Next stop will be Alfama quarter to proceed with another walking tour with your guide. Alfama is the oldest district in Lisbon, a Labyrinth of narrow, winding streets, stairways, alleys, small squares, with tile façades (azulejos), iron balconies, and hanging laundry, the heartland of Fado music, steep hills and cobblestones, deep historical layers, strong cultural traditions, intimate urban scale, and emotional connection to Lisbon’s identity—often seen as the most “Lisbon-like” of all neighborhoods. We all enjoy this walk, passing by the very ancient cathedral of Lisbon, Saint Anthony’s church (built where Saint Anthony of Padua was born).
Proceed by car, passing by the majestic waterfront Comercio square, and along the riverside by the harbor with sights of one of world's leading cruise destinations. On the way to Belem, the most monumental and historical quarter, we pass by Belem palace, official residence of the President of Portugal. Our next stop will be Jeronimos monastery - impressive symbol of Portugal's power and wealth during the Age of Discovery - with a guided tour inside the church, which is the pantheon of the king who gave the name to the Manueline style, during the apogee of the discoveries. After visiting the church, we walk to the river for stops at Monument to the Discoveries – evoking the maritime expansion and Belem Tower – icon of the Age of Discovery (stop for photos, drinks and toilettes). Near these 2 monuments, we can enjoy a magnificent view of the Tagus river. On the way back, we go by Restelo district, a sumptuous residential area and chic ambassadors’ district and Monsanto park, the largest park in Lisbon and one of the largest in Europe.
